Some governments have announced that home office is permitted until the 31st of December 2020 and this deadline could potentially be extended. Home office has advantages but it is undeniably changing our habits. And to say blankly, we discovered all of it during the past 6 months and not all of it is very exciting. So here are some tips to help you cope with the continued working from home.
1. Take coffee breaks with your colleagues
Some companies have created virtual areas where it is possible to take coffee with colleagues. Even if those dedicated areas do not exist in your environment, you can also use your virtual meeting tool to do so. Anyway, the idea is to have contacts with your colleagues that are only work-related. There are human beings behind the screens.
2. Discover power napping
One of the biggest advantages of home working is the possibility to take naps. Even 15 minutes can make miracles and boost you for the rest of the afternoon.
3. Go to the office
When possible / allowed, go to the office from time to time like once per week. It is good for you to see people and to remind others that you still exist. While at the office, consider social distance and wear a mask if you are closer than 2 meters from other people. Wish to improve office atmosphere? Bring breakfast or a cake. You will become the employee of the month...
4. Take care of your work-life balance
When you work in your living-room, it is not easy to segregate your professional from your personal life. Create routines and schedules that include relaxing and mindlessness activities that you like.
5. Have fun!
During this strange period, we are not able the participate in the funniest things like after works, parties and so forth. So we need to put back the fun. Listen to music you like, see friends (virtually or by respecting the bubbles), dance in your living room...or anything else than can put back a bit of sparkle in your life.
This is not an exhaustive list, of course. Yet, the all the tips have a point in common: you mental wellbeing.
